The idea for Stable Reading emerged from the experience I gained over the course of 33 years as a reading specialist and a 1st and 2nd grade teacher. I have had many conversation with parents over the years regarding reading development. I became aware of the struggles and frustration parents can sometimes face at home. Stable Reading is designed for you.
One of my greatest pleasures is helping parents and students better understand the reading process, and in doing so, change the negative self-image of struggling readers and offer support to any child who is currently discovering and developing a love of books. Early in my career, I received a K-12 Reading Specialist Endorsement from the University of Cincinnati and became fascinated with how children acquire language and ultimately learn to read. In 2001, I received a Master’s Degree in Literacy from the University of Cincinnati. While at the University of Cincinnati, I conducted a research study on Interactive Writing with Dr. Cheri Williams. Interactive Writing is a powerful writing technique that allows young children to access and understand how language works. It’s easy to do, and the rewards are great for both student and teacher. At Stable Reading, I offer one-on-one reading instruction with gestalt coaching for both children and adults. I live in Centennial and enjoy spending time with my family, reading, exploring the outdoors, and hanging with my horse Poco and two dogs, Beau and Elbert. |
PublicationsSharon Bibeau's research has been cited inside the published title, Interactive Writing Across Grades.
Interactive writing is a dynamic, unscripted instructional method in which the teacher and students work together to construct a meaningful text while simultaneously discussing the details of the writing process. Together they plan, compose, and review text in a variety of genres.
The “interactive” piece involves group collaboration in planning and composing the writing through guided conversation and a unique “sharing the pen” technique where students do the actual writing. |
